How it works

A plain explanation of what happens when you search.

When you type a query and hit enter, it gets sent to public web indexes. The results that come back are then sorted by a scoring system that looks at a bunch of signals to figure out what’s most useful.

Unlike Google or DuckDuckGo, there are no AI summaries to scroll past, no sponsored results, no ads disguised as content. Type a query, get real results, scroll zero.

The signals

24%Title match

Does the page title contain your search words? Exact matches and phrases rank higher. Short or generic titles get penalized.

18%Snippet relevance

How often do your search terms appear in the result description? If they’re clustered close together, that’s a good sign.

16%Domain authority

Some sites are more trustworthy. Wikipedia, Stack Overflow, and .gov sites score high. Content farms and spammy domains score low.

12%Content quality

Known low-quality sites like GeeksforGeeks, Guru99, and betanet.net are heavily penalized. Proper capitalization gets a small boost.

10%Freshness

Newer content gets a boost. Results less than 6 months old score full points. Older content gradually drops off.

7%Category relevance

The engine guesses what a result is about (tutorial, news, forum) and whether that matches the type of answer you’re looking for.

7%Reddit boost

If your query sounds like you want discussion (vs, best, review, opinion), Reddit results get pushed up. Pages baiting with “reddit” get penalized.

6%URL quality

Clean, short URLs beat long ones with tracking parameters. URLs that match the query in the path get a bonus.

How we compare

We searched the same queries on Google and DuckDuckGo too — here’s what happened. Notice they both serve AI summaries and ads before you see a single real result. We don’t.

DuckDuckGo surfaces Reddit at #2 but leaves it buried behind meta comparison sites. Our engine pushes Reddit to #2 with the boost and keeps dev.to (real community content) at #1 where it belongs. What this tells us: For technical comparisons, our content quality penalty makes the difference. Google leaves GeeksforGeeks at #2 despite being a known content farm. DuckDuckGo lets it into the top 3 and also surfaces SEO-optimized comparison sites (toolshref, itpathsolutions). Our engine penalizes GeeksforGeeks with −20 (drops it to #3) and keeps dev.to’s community-written comparison at #1. We beat DuckDuckGo by 14% on relevance and 14% on spam blocking. On developer queries, community voices win over SEO spam.

Our engine keeps recordingnow.com at #1 on strong title match, but promotes Wirecutter to #2 and RTINGS to #3 — ahead of where DuckDuckGo places them. We beat DuckDuckGo by 3% on relevance and 10% on spam blocking. For product research, our domain authority scoring elevates trusted reviewers above SEO-first sites.

Image search

Image results come from web image indexes. The source page URL and full-resolution image URL are extracted, and results from sites like Pinterest are filtered out since they tend to dominate otherwise.

Privacy

This engine doesn’t track you. No cookies, no analytics, no profile building. Queries go directly to public indexes without any tracking parameters attached.
